Mathematics

The Mathematics Department at Brighton College believes mathematics to be an integral facet of our cultural life, which is anchored between the creative abandon of the arts and the methodology of science. Its teaching at Brighton is joyous and varied, whether undertaken for the purpose of intellectual amusement or as a means of making a logical leap from clues to conclusions. Traditional rigour is fused with vibrant use of ICT. Mathematics Week is an annual highlight of the Brighton calendar, in which Houses compete to solve puzzles and break codes, as well as reciting Pi from memory to highest number of decimal places. The current College record is 121!
