    Last day of term 

    The last day of the term will be Thursday 13th December. The whole school will close at 12 pm on that day and pupils must be collected at 12 pm. 
     
     

    Gifts for Support Staff

    We would like to thank all who have donated something to add to the support staff gift bags this winter. We would be most grateful for items like phone cards/vouchers – please note that the deadline is Tuesday (4th). The gift bags will be presented to the gardeners, cleaners and maintenance staff on Wednesday (12th)

    Visits to Brighton College

    If you have need to collect your child in between pick-up times, please may you ensure that you call / email ahead with the details, so that we can inform our Security Team. Without this information, you will not be permitted onto the College campus. Please ensure therefore that you contact and inform the College when any such appointments are booked. 
     
     

    Junior School Winterfest Party 

    To celebrate the launch of our Junior School Winter Wonderland, we are excited to announce that we will be hosting a Winterfest for our Junior School pupils on Saturday the 8th December from 3-5PM.

    Activities will include gingerbread men decorating, make and shake crafts, outdoor winter movie, popcorn and face painting, hot chocolate and marshmallows, scavenger hunt and gingerbread golf game. This is a FREE event but for pupils to participate in the activities, a ticket must be collected from the FS reception area before December the 3rd.

     

    Sunday 9th December - 'Winter Woollies' 

    Dig out those scarves, hats and gloves in preparation for the Junior School 'Winter Wonderland'!  On Sunday 9th December, all children are invited to wear their Winter Woollies as our Winter Wonderland extravaganza begins.  Please send your child to school on this day wearing 'Winter' style clothing. 
     

     

    FS1 Workshop on Pre-Reading skills

    FS1 parents are invited into College on Wednesday 12th December for a presentation on Pre-Reading skills. This will begin at 7.45 and take place in the Art room in the new building. We hope it will give you practical ideas of how you can help your child at home.
     

     

    Year 1 – 5 workshop on The Progression of Phonics

    Year 1 - 5 parents are invited into College on Wednesday 12th December for a presentation on the progression of phonics.  This will begin at 8.15 and take place in the Art room in the new building. We hope it will give you practical ideas of how you can help your child at home.  
     

     

    End of Term Celebration Afternoon 

    The Junior School would like to invite all parents to join us on Wednesday 12th December to share and celebrate the children's hard work and effort during the term.  There will be an opportunity for you to share books, folders and busy books with your children and to view this half term's prep projects.  Early Years parents are welcome from 12.10pm - 12.50pm and Y1 - 5 from 13.00pm - 13.40pm. 
     

     

    January Workshops 'How to Help Reading and Writing at Home’ – Year 1 - 5

    Talk for Reading 
    Thursday 17th January (8.30 am – 9:00 am)
    Sharing stories with your child is one of the most important and meaningful learning experiences that children can have at home. This workshop will provide practical suggestions and ideas to help you effectively develop a love of reading at home. 
     
    Talk for Writing Parent Workshop 
    Thursday 17th January (8.00 am – 8:30 am)
    Talk for Writing is powerful because it enables children to imitate the language they need for a particular topic orally before reading and analysing it and then writing their own version." Pie Corbett, founder Talk for Writing Come and find out how we teach Talk for Writing at Brighton College from FS1 all the way through to Year 5 and see for yourself the huge impact it’s making on the children’s speaking and writing skills.
     
     

     

    Senior School Notices

     

    Senior School Sports Day

    Monday 10th December sees the Brighton College Al Ain PE Department host our annual Senior School Sports Day. Parents are welcome to join us during the day to support but must be aware and adhere to our rules for spectators of sporting activities. Unfortunately, this means no male spectators will be permitted on or around the running track from 8am until 9.50am or in the Sports Hall or Girls School area from 10am until 12pm. There will be staff present at these locations to guide you.
