ACADEMIC LIFE

At Brighton College Al Ain, we cultivate a deep love of learning that sparks curiosity and fosters intellectual growth. Our dynamic curriculum encourages pupils to explore diverse subjects, think critically and develop a lifelong passion for knowledge. With dedicated educators who nurture each child’s unique strengths, we create a vibrant environment where inquiry and creativity thrive.

Through collaborative projects, hands-on experiences, and a rich variety of Co-Curricular Activities, we empower our pupils to embrace challenges and seek out new opportunities for discovery. Here, education is more than academic achievement; it ignites a passion for lifelong learning.

Our pupils are taught by passionate, highly qualified primary specialists. As pupils move from the Early Years into Year 1, they progress through and beyond the National Curriculum, working towards the Key Stage 1 and 2 targets of the British Curriculum, alongside Arabic, Islamic, and Social Studies.

Our curriculum goes beyond academic achievement—it fosters curiosity, critical thinking, and a love of learning. Through a blend of traditional and modern approaches, including technology and real-world projects, we equip pupils with the skills and confidence needed to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Our Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) curriculum teaches children the skills and understanding they need to lead confident, healthy and independent lives. We ensure our pupils are equipped with the knowledge and skills to be confident in making good decisions.

Pupils engage in weekly PSHE sessions, which are taught thematically and reinforced through the weekly assembly. These lessons encourage discussion and reflection on essential topics such as relationships, personal safety and maintaining a healthy lifestyle, fostering holistic development and well-rounded wellbeing.

Our teachers are experienced professionals, committed to helping pupils engage with and understand their subjects. As pupils move through the school, they study core subjects such as English, maths, history, geography, science, Islamic studies and PSHEE, along with specialist lessons in music, Arabic, modern foreign languages (MFL), PE and swimming.

Alongside academic learning, we focus on emotional intelligence and wellbeing, ensuring pupils are prepared to face an ever-changing world.

OUR COMMUNITY

We provide pupils with leadership opportunities to help them develop essential skills and make a positive impact on their school community. From Year 2 to Year 5, pupils can take on various roles, including those in the Pupil Council, where they actively shape school improvements and lead charity projects. The Pupil Council ensures that pupils' voices are heard and acted upon, serving as a platform to drive real change within the school. Other roles, such as 'Playground Buddies' and 'Wellbeing Ambassadors', promote kindness and create a supportive environment. Our pupil ambassadors also focus on key areas like respect, digital literacy, and sustainability, driving projects that benefit the entire school.

At Brighton College Al Ain, our rewards system, The Pelican Pathway, encourages pupils to strive for excellence in all areas. Pupils earn Pelican points, which are awarded by staff, as they demonstrate positive behaviour and achievements. The Pelican Pathway inspires pupils to reach their full potential, celebrating those who demonstrate the qualities we value most at Brighton College Al Ain. These achievements are recognised in school assemblies, where teachers award certificates, pins, and crests to acknowledge their hard work and progress.

Pupil wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do. Through our school garden, pupils gain hands-on experience in sustainability and nutrition, growing their own fruit and vegetables.

Our innovative Home Economics and Lifetime Health (H.E.A.L.T.H.) curriculum equips them with essential life skills, from cooking to understanding the benefits of a healthy, balanced lifestyle. This holistic approach empowers pupils to take charge of their own wellbeing, laying the foundation for lifelong success.

At Brighton College Al Ain, learning extends far beyond the classroom. We offer a wide range of Clubs and Activities, from sports and arts to music and drama, providing pupils with opportunities to discover new passions and develop their talents. Outdoor education, field trips, and community projects further enrich their experiences, encouraging teamwork, leadership, and a sense of responsibility.

We believe in nurturing the whole child, helping pupils build confidence, resilience, and social skills that will serve them well in all aspects of life.
