From our youngest pupils in Nursery (FS1) to those studying for IGCSE and A-level, we offer specialist sports lessons that build confidence and competence. Competitive play begins in Year 3, providing opportunities for both high-achievers and those who are just discovering their passion for sport.
Our first-class sporting facilities enable us to provide a diverse range of activities, with a focus on key sports such as football, netball, basketball, swimming and athletics. Pupils can also explore additional options like volleyball, gymnastics, and badminton, ensuring that everyone can find an activity they enjoy.
With expert coaching and a supportive environment, we help every pupil—whether a seasoned athlete or a beginner—develop resilience, teamwork and a love of movement that lasts well beyond their school years.
Football
At Brighton College Al Ain, football is a key component of our sports programme. Starting from Year 1, both girls and boys can join our Football Squads. From Year 2 through Year 6, football is integrated into the sports curriculum for all pupils. Each season, we organise over two hundred fixtures across 44 teams, reflecting our commitment to providing ample opportunities for participation and competition. Notably, our U11 boys' team has achieved significant success, reaching the BSME Finals during our inaugural year hosting.
Swimming
Swimming is an integral part of the curriculum at Brighton College, with lessons commencing from Nursery (FS1) and continuing through to Sixth Form. Pupils regularly participate in galas and competitions, promoting teamwork and sportsmanship. Swimming sessions are run by specialist instructors in our 25-metre pool. Here, pupils learn various strokes, including freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke, and butterfly. Additionally, swimming squad sessions are available from Year 1, offering further skill development and opportunities to enjoy the sport.
Netball
Starting from Year 2, our netball programme focuses on enhancing fundamental skills such as hand-eye coordination, agility, teamwork, and strategic thinking. We field 26 teams that regularly participate in fixtures, showcasing their dedication and commitment to the sport.
Basketball
Basketball is the fastest-growing sport at Brighton College Al Ain, featuring regular competitive fixtures. The U15 boys' and girls' squads have achieved significant success, competing in the JR NBA Competition. Beyond formal fixtures and tournaments, pupils also enjoy informal staff vs pupils matches, contributing to a vibrant spectator atmosphere within the college.
Athletics
During the winter months, pupils from Year 1 to Sixth Form participate in activities such as sprinting, javelin, long jump, high jump, shot put and relay races. Each year, parents are invited to celebrate the achievements of our pupils at our annual Sports Day. This year, our pupils have competed against some of the best young athletes from around the world at the World School Games held in Dubai.
Physical Education and Games
Brighton College Al Ain's Physical Education (PE) and Games curriculum is designed to promote physical fitness, teamwork and sportsmanship among pupils from Nursery to Year 13. Through a variety of activities and sports, pupils develop fundamental movement skills, learn the importance of regular exercise, and embrace the value of fair play. The curriculum aims to instil a lifelong love for physical activity and healthy competition while fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all pupils.
Other Sports
Other popular sports include badminton, volleyball, table tennis and cricket, with many pupils joining these popular CCAs or playing socially for pleasure.
