Sport forms an integral part of life at Brighton College Al Ain. Recognised locally and regionally for its sporting programmes, BCAA offers all our pupils the opportunity to participate, compete and excel in a wide range of sporting activities. A coordinated programme of physical education underpins a comprehensive variety of extracurricular sports teams, clubs and events.
Athletics
Our Athletics programme offers pupils from Year 1 through to Year 13 the opportunity to represent the college at a range of athletic disciplines in regional and national competition. BCAA has a reputation for producing excellent athletes. Pupils receive event specific coaching by experts in a wide range of discipline and compete in a number of major athletics events throughout the year.
Football
Our football teams across all age ranges are very successful, with over 100 boys in our various age group teams playing over 50 fixtures during the course of the year. Girls' football is increasing in popularity, with four teams playing regularly. We have players who represent Al Ain FC and other local football clubs and we participate in national and international tournaments across a number of age groups, most recently in Dubai and Italy.
Netball
We field 3 netball teams at U11, 13 and 15 age groups. Fixtures take place throughout the year and cater for girls of all abilities. The College has close links with the Al Ain Amblers Netball club, so players can progress to club netball at regional level. We recently participated in the BSME Netball championships for the first time, and next year we will be progressing to take part in Dubai and international Netball tournaments.
Swimming
Swimming at Brighton College Al Ain is amongst the strongest programmes in the region. Our junior squad train three times a week and pupils progress to five times as senior squad members. We compete in local, regional and international competitions in Abu Dhabi and Dubai and plan to expand our opportunities with new destinations. We regularly achieve medal positions in swim competitions and our swimmers are swimming at regional and national levels of ability. We also enter Aquathons and triathlon at all ages and have a large and growing number of pupils representing the Brighton College Tri Club in national competition, regularly making it onto the podiums.
No one should be left out
We firmly believe that all pupils deserve the opportunity to enjoy sport, regardless of their ability. By devoting time and attention to those who are less confident as well as to those with more experience, we develop life skills that bring resilience and success beyond school life. We also offer PE at GCSE and PE (Sports Science) at A-level and have recently introduced BTEC Sport Science in 2020. We provide a range of activities, both co-ed and gender specific to ensure that all our pupils, regardless of background or culture are able to benefit from our sporting offering.
